WOMEN ONLY: Kegel Exercises?????
Does doing regular Kegel exercises really work?
How often should you do them and how soon do you start feeling results?
The Kegelmaster is a progressive resistance pelvic toner which is designed to strengthen weakened pelvic floors. It is a simple device when compared to some of the newer electrical stimulation devices on the market. However, that is not to say that it is any less effective.
When Dr Kegel devised his highly effective pelvic floor exercises, they were not originally designed to be done on an empty vagina. Instead, he made a device, not unlike the Kegelmaster which was designed to provide resistance in order that there was something to squeeze against. Over the years, this fact has somehow been forgotten and women are now advised to do endless rounds of “kegel squeezes” on an empty vagina.
Now, there are inherent problems with this advice.
Firstly, if you imagine a weightlifter or bodybuilder, they do not build strong muscles in their arms by simply moving them up and down, but use a form of resistance such as a barbell or weights which helps to quickly build muscle mass. The pelvic floor muscles are no different. By using a form of resistance, this gives the muscles something to work against and they will therefore strengthen much faster. Traditional advice in terms of doing kegel exercises does not necessarily advocate using resistance.
Secondly, many women become disillusioned with repetitive kegel exercises. They are often unsure of they are doing them correctly and even if they are, results are often unpredictable and very slow to arrive. This is why many women give up, despite advice from doctors to carry them out for the rest of their lives.
The Kegelmaster has a tensioned setting. This means that the stronger the setting, the harder the pelvic muscle has to work. By gradually increasing the tension on the device, you can chart progress and see faster results.
Indeed, a survey undertaken recently has shown that women who use some form of resistance device to help with their pelvic muscle exercises consistently show much better results than those who do kegel exercises on an empty vagina.
There is no doubt that when used as recommended, the Kegelmaster can bring about excellent results. If you would like to see further details about this device, please visit Kegelmaster, a helpful site also giving more information about pelvic floor weakness.
